As the Team Leader, you will contribute as an integral member of the Children, Youth and Families group and support activities aligned with the strategic direction and consistent with the mission and values of Churches of Christ.
About you You are passionate about the welfare of children and young people and achieving the absolute best outcomes for them.
The successful applicant will primarily supervise and support the Family Finding Team; however, there will be elements of this role which will cross over into our Kinship Team (e.g., assessment reviews, practice guidance, compliance oversight, event organisation).
You will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
You have the ability to handle the challenges that occur in an organisation driven by change and innovation, well-developed problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills.
Proven ability and willingness to support a culture of safety, legislative compliance, quality and continuous improvement, and an understanding of the principles and values of Christianity.
Qualifications for the role: Qualifications in social work, psychology, social sciences or a related discipline.Demonstrated knowledge of the contemporary challenges for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999.A sound understanding of child development and trauma theory, to inform assessment and decision making.Demonstrated understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.Current driver's licence.Three years' experience working with children, youth and families in statutory care, ideally within a multi-disciplinary team.Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with children and families exhibiting complex and multiple support needs.Demonstrated experience in supporting young people from childhood to adulthood.Experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children, young people, families and communities in an organisational context.One year's experience leading a team in a child protection context.Pre-requisite: Possess a current National Police Certificate – or ability to acquire.Possess Working with Children (Blue Card) – or ability to acquire.Possess Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS) – or ability to acquire – where the service and role provides care or support in a licensed care service.Importantly, you will be someone who closely aligns with our organisational values of: Unconditional Love, Continual Innovation, Mutual Trust, Wise Stewardship and Safety.
