We operate two sites: Good Shepherd Lodge in East Mackay and Kerrisdale Gardens in Beaconsfield.
Job Summary: We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Assistants in Nursing to join our team at our Special Dementia Care Unit in Mackay, Queensland.
This warm and welcoming dementia-specific aged care unit provides specialised, person-centered care for individuals with behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia.
The successful candidate will work alongside a multi-skilled team to stabilise and reduce symptoms over time, with the goal of transitioning residents back to mainstream placement.
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to provide high-quality, person-centered careStrong understanding of dementia care practicesAbility to work effectively within a team environmentResponsibilities: Assist in the nursing care and support to residents with dementia in accordance with their individual care plansAssist residents with activities of daily living as neededMonitor and report changes in resident's condition to the clinical teamWork collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic careParticipate in transition out planning for residents ready for mainstream placementRequirements: Cert 3 in Individual support or equivalentMinimum 2 covid vaccinationsNational Police CheckPrevious experience working in aged care or dementia-specific unit desirableTraining and support provided to the right candidatesThis program is funded by the Commonwealth Government.
