The opportunity Australia or FijiOpen to national and international candidatesFull-time until 30 June 2029Australia Assists Australia Assists is an Australian Government program that deploys skilled humanitarian specialists to support multilateral agencies, governments, civil society and communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and conflict.
Australia Assists' Goal is to: Save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of conflict, disasters and other humanitarian crises, and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations.
Role Overview The Partnerships Lead will support the Program Director in the development of a transitional partnerships workplan to establish formal partnerships with identified government, intergovernmental, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and other organisations and will have day-to-day responsibility for the planning, implementation and ongoing engagement with these counterparts, in support of Australia Assists activities.
Key responsibilities Establish and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.Lead a review of Standby Partnerships during Inception to evaluate the types and relative merit of different deployments to inform a refreshed approach to prioritisation of partners and deployments to align with Australia Assists' updated theory of change and the new Australian Humanitarian Policy.Initiate conversations with partner agencies during Transition to prioritise this dialogue and the establishment of partnerships through Inception.Develop a Capacity Development Strategy and Action Plan, considering capacity assessments and baselining, providing secondment, exchanges, community of practice, training, learning resources, mentoring and coaching possibilities for host organisations, the roster and the AA Program team.Contribute to the overarching cross-cutting themes strategic framework which incorporates a Localisation Action Plan, Climate Change strategy and Workplan, First Nations Participation Plan and a Capacity Development Strategy and Action Plan.Develop a program Climate Strategy and Action Plan informed by detailed analysis of current and emerging priorities, identified partner needs and country-appropriate best practices.Manage program employees, contractors and advisors responsible for regional/country programs and cross-cutting priorities.Selection criteria Bachelor's degree in International Development, Humanitarian Assistance, or a related field.Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong professional and collaborative relationships, negotiation and networking with government and community stakeholders.Strong strategic leadership, ensuring that the Program's activities align with humanitarian principles, regional frameworks, and DFAT's priorities.Extensive experience in program management and humanitarian assistance, with a strong understanding of international humanitarian principles and practices.The capacity to adapt Program strategies to changing circumstances and emerging needs in humanitarian contexts.Willingness to travel to Program sites or regional offices as needed.How to apply Please submit your application by clicking "Apply for job" at the top of this page.
