Job Description Vertex Pharmaceuticals The Field-Based Medical Advisor (MA) provides scientific and medical expertise to external and internal stakeholders for the assigned Vertex therapeutic area.
The MA is a subject matter expert for the assigned therapeutic areas (TA) and related medicines.
The MA acts with an uncompromising commitment to patients and supports the flawless execution of TA country medical projects.

The Field-Based Medical Advisor role encompasses office-based activities and >50% of the time field-based activities, including scientific engagements. Key Responsibilities The MA acts with an uncompromising commitment to patients, supports the flawless execution of TA country medical plan and projects, and is committed to:
Provide fair and balanced medical information and education to health care professionals, patients groups and payers that support the safe and effective use of Vertex' medicines in indicated patientsRespond to Requests for information on clinical data and act as a primary resource on Vertex productsBuild trust through open and transparent collaboration with healthcare professionals, patient associations and payersBuild the reputation and visibility of Vertex at the country level by the provision of high-quality scientific information and education both internally and externallyLeverage local medical insights to best adapt the medical strategyServe as a liaison between key corporate functional areas and healthcare providers who express interest in conducting investigator-initiated research, to facilitate review and consideration of research proposalsGain and maintain a very strong knowledge of the management of relevant diseases (Cystic Fibrosis) for Vertex in the local CountryKnow the local health care system and keep up to date on changes in the environment in the country, including rules and regulationsActively and collaboratively participate in actions and projects of the International and Regional Medical Affairs team, as appropriatePro-active and cross-functional collaboration in the assigned TA(s) with the country teamSupport the development & execution of the Country's Medical plan(s)Lead Medical Education initiatives in close alignment with other medical colleagues in the fieldDevelop, attend and present at appropriate meetings (Advisory Board meetings, Scientific meetings, etc.
)Contribute to XF strategic priorities of the TA (Cystic Fibrosis) with HCP insights and TA knowledge and ensure all activities address patient well-being and respect data integritySupport the marketing team for the development of promotional tools and initiatives in compliance with Vertex policies and local regulatory requirementsPerform medical reviews (e.g.
material to be released, in cooperation with project owners and other functions such as Legal/Compliance, Regulatory)Support the development of reimbursement dossiers, written statements, preparation/presence at oral hearings processes, as needed and appropriateProvide medical/scientific training/updates to Commercial, Access, Corporate Affairs and other XF team membersSupport of Regulatory Affairs (Product Information/SmPCs, translation and artwork reviews)Support of IPE, GAPP and other XF teams as requiredDemonstrate consistent ethical and professional behaviour, with uncompromising commitment to patientsThe role is field-based and expected to be in the field with HCPs > 50% of the time.Education
