Job Description

What you will be doing: As the Staff Accountant you will assist in the following areas in accounting: General Cashier, Accounts Payables, and Income Audit.
Assists with the supervision and coordination of the accounting operation in the hotel. Ensures the proper processing of bills to be paid in a timely and accurate manner. Candidate will also assist in the collection of direct billing.
Your experience and skills include: Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented mannerComply at all times with Sofitel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operationsProcess the income audit as neededProcess and reconcile PO's and invoices per company SOPReconcile payment processing versus bank outputResponsible for all Receivable and Payable filingAssist in month-end processingIssue house banks to cash-handling employeesPerform house bank audits according to company policyIssue due backs to cash-handling employeesPerform a daily count of main house bank and document results. Send a copy daily to the Assistant Controller.Prepare and maintain Over/Short Report by cashier on a daily basis and forward to Assistant Controller at month-end.Count and document all house banks quarterly on a surprise basisPrepare a quarterly summary of house banksMaintain current house bank contracts. Issue cashier safety deposit boxes as requiredReport all cash discrepancies immediately to the Assistant Controller.Make petty cash disbursements according to company policyAssist with cashier training and be available as needed to support cashiers in resolving problems with cash handling proceduresWillingness and ability to work a flexible schedule to meet business demands. Assist with additional projects or requests as neededPerform any additional duties as assigned by the Controller and/or Assistant ControllerThis position pays between $33-36/hour Qualifications

Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functionsMust be able to lift up to 25 poundsMinimum 2 years' experience in accounting requiredStrong verbal skills and must be able to read EnglishVisa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents Additional Information
