Senior Assessment Officer Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Multiple Temporary Roles for up to 6 months| Sydney location | Part-time and Job-share considered The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) is an independent body exercising royal commission powers to detect, investigate and expose serious misconduct within the NSW Police Force and the NSW Crime Commission.
The LECC also independently monitors and reviews the investigation of complaints by the NSW Police Force and the NSW Crime Commission about the conduct of their officers.
In doing so the LECC recognises the primary responsibility of those agencies to investigate and prevent officer misconduct and corruption within those agencies, while providing for the oversight of those functions.
The LECC works collaboratively with the NSW Police Force and the NSW Crime Commission to educate and promote the prevention and elimination of officer misconduct, particularly through the identification of systemic issues that are likely to be conducive to the occurrence of officer misconduct and corruption.
The LECC also undertakes independent, real-time monitoring of critical incident investigations undertaken by the NSW Police Force and can make reports on the conduct of critical incident investigations by the NSW Police Force.
Find out more about the LECC: http://www.lecc.nsw.gov.au The LECC is currently seeking to temporarily fill multiple roles of Senior Assessment Officer within its Intake and Assessments unit.
The Intake and Assessment Team's primary function is to assess and manage complaints regarding misconduct by NSW Police Force and NSW Crime Commission officers.
The Team makes recommendations and decisions about what action the Commission may take with regard to a complaint.
The Team is also responsible for assessing whether the NSW Police Force and the NSW Crime Commission have satisfactorily dealt with complaints made to them.
The Intake and Assessments Team sits within the Oversight Division.
The Senior Assessment Officer (SAO) manages a high workload, assessing a variety of complaints made to the Commission.
The SAO analyses relevant information, prepares internal reports, makes recommendations and decisions in line with their delegated authority.
In addition, the SAO will communicate with complainants, members of the NSW Police Force, NSW Crime Commission, LECC officers, other internal and external stakeholders.
The SAO will also assist with projects and research tasks related to the Intake and Assessments Team functions.
The SAO provides wide ranging mentoring and assistance to other LECC officers regarding complaint assessments and complaint handling.
Required knowledge and experience Proven research and analytical skills Proven capacity to access and interrogate database information systems Knowledge of complaint assessment and complaint handling Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, oral and written communication skills and telephone skills Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire a sound knowledge of, the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act 2016, and other relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
A relevant tertiary level qualification or Certificate IV in Government Investigations is desirable.

Serving or former sworn officers of the NSW Police Force are ineligible to apply for this role.
Security Vetting The successful applicant will undergo a stringent national security clearance assessment.
A probity assessment to establish reliability, trustworthiness, integrity and suitability of employment.
In addition, LECC officers are also required to obtain and retain a commonwealth security clearance.
The SAO requires a security clearance at the Baseline level.
The LECC will facilitate the process to obtain this clearance level for the role holder within six months of appointment.
