Kalano Flexible Age Care Service is a National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care (NATSIFAC) funded low level age care service.
The service provides care for up to eighteen permanent and two respite First Nation residents of the Katherine Region.
As the Clinical Nurse, you will be guiding excellence in Elderly care.
The position requires a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by indigenous communities, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team to ensure the well-being of residents and community clients.
As the Clinical care nurse, you will be expected to take the lead in the absence of the manager, be responsible for developing and reviewing care plans in response to both the residential and community client's changing needs, mentoring and teaching First Nation trainees, being the Nurse lead when required for the purpose of delivering high-quality, person-centred care to elderly residents within the low-level age care service.
The primary focus will be on creating a safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate environment for First Nations elders to thrive in their later years.
Accommodation and relocation are provided within the package.
Key Responsibilities: 1.
Overseeing the coordination of care plans, advocating for residents' needs and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize health outcomes for elderly members of the community.

Provide clinical leadership and guidance to staff to ensure comprehensive nursing care is provided to residents, including assistance with daily activities, medication management, wound care, and maintaining overall health and well-being.
Treat residents with dignity and respect, taking into consideration their cultural backgrounds and preferences.
Promote a consultative and collaborative approach to person centred care planning including participation by the individual and/or the individual's representative.
Ensure resident care is assessed planned, implemented and evaluated in accordance with the individual's needs.

Maintain accurate and up-to date documentation of the resident's care plans, medical history and any relevant incidents or observations as per the age care standards and the organisations' policies and procedures.

Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of care services, policies, and procedures.
5.
Stay updated with the latest best practices, cultural competency and aged care trends through professional development activities and training opportunities.
Assist with the orientation and skill development of the age care team.
6.
Additional Duties: Provide clinical and nursing care support to the Community Home Support Program and NDIS team when required
Salary and Conditions: Salary Range: $107,936.00 per annum (pro-rata)
Location: Kalano Flexible Aged Care - Lot 508 McKeddie Road, Katherine, NT
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week – 7.5 hours per day [7:00am - 3:30pm, 3:30pm - 11:30pm, 11:00pm - 7:30am]
The successful applicant should possess the following: • Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Registered Nurse.
• Experience in aged care nursing.
• Working Knowledge & Understanding of the Age Care Standards or a commitment for acquiring this knowledge during the probation period.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, cross-cultural environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of First Nations cultures, history, and health disparities.
• Comply with Kalano's Work Health and Safety management system.
• COVID-19 Vaccinated.
• Valid NT Drivers Licence, Valid Ochre Card and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
