We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of Software Engineering. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems that support the development, deployment, and scaling of software solutions. These systems are integral to the success of our research and operational goals, particularly in cloud environments (primarily AWS, with secondary support for Azure). The Senior DevOps Engineer ensures infrastructure and applications are delivered reliably, securely, and at scale, enabling researchers and staff to focus on scientific discovery and innovation.
Your responsibilities include: Develop DevOps Strategies: Create strategies that align with the institute's technical and scientific objectives.CI/CD Pipeline Management: Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for seamless software builds, testing, and deployments.Infrastructure Integration: Integrate DevOps practices across on-premise and cloud infrastructures, supporting high-performance computing (HPC) and data pipelines.Infrastructure Automation: Use tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.Task Automation: Automate repetitive tasks, system configurations, and application deployments to improve efficiency.Maintain Automation Tools: Continuously optimise automation scripts to meet evolving research infrastructure needs.What we need from you: Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.Experience: Proven experience in DevOps, with expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure, automation, and continuous delivery in research or high-performance computing environments.Cloud and Containerisation Expertise: Proficiency in AWS (primary), Azure (secondary), Docker, and Kubernetes.DevOps Tools: Strong knowledge of version control, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab), IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), and configuration management.Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python, to automate tasks.Who we are Murdoch Children's Research Institute envisions a transformative future for child health.
