We are looking for an enthusiastic leader with policy acumen to support and lead a team of experts in their field to effectively influence national energy policy for the benefit of Queensland.
Your responsibilities As the Manager, you will:
Lead from the front by participating in activities that will inspire your team and provide exceptional leadership to your direct reports, your wider team, your branch, division and Queensland Treasury more broadly.
Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders, to leverage Queensland's interests and contribution to significant and complex national energy policy projects.
Empower and coach your team to be personally responsible for their contribution in driving great policy outcomes aligned to the Queensland Government's energy policy objectives and priorities.
Provide and coordinate high-level expert advice, information and support to senior management, the Minister's office, and external clients as required in relation to energy policy, energy regulation and energy matters in general, and implications for Queensland.
Conduct and coordinate substantial high-level research, analysis and review of complex energy sector market, regulatory and policy issues, and oversee the implementation of appropriate action.
Liaise, consult and negotiate with other State Government and Commonwealth agencies, energy sector entities, energy customers and their representative bodies in relation to national energy policy issues.
Prepare, oversee and deliver complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations and correspondence.
Represent the Department at state/federal conferences, internal/external meetings and committees, and interdepartmental/inter-jurisdictional working groups.
Manage a small team to promote an accountable, fair and safe work environment through the implementation and management of human, financial and information management resources, policies and practices.

Demonstrated capacity to successfully lead complex programs and projects within timeframes and guidelines and the ability to research, develop and implement practices, policy and guidelines which meets government and departmental objectives.
Demonstrated experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders and building relationships to establish mutually beneficial connections.
In addition, this role requires the leadership capabilities of a Program Leader as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland booklet.
