As they expand, they're looking for a seasoned technical leader who can guide architectural decisions, mentor teams, and drive real product outcomes.
ABOUT THE ROLE In this pivotal position, you will lead a critical initiative to upgrade and modernise an existing platform.
Your responsibilities include:
Technical Leadership:Guide architectural decisions to align with broader company objectives.Oversee upgrades to a legacy PHP platform, including version updates, library remediation, and process modernisation.Implement testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and review-focused testing environments.Drive exploratory and architectural projects to ensure technical excellence.Team Development:Build, lead, and grow a dedicated team responsible for the platform uplift.Mentor developers on modern development practices and methodologies.Provide training and guidance to elevate technical capabilities and engineering standards.Promote best practices in coding, testing, and deployment to cultivate a high-performing, collaborative culture.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with leadership and product teams to scope solutions and deliver proof of concepts.Align technical decisions with product goals, ensuring measurable outcomes.Maintain open communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed and on track.Risk Management & Continuous Improvement:Identify and mitigate risks to ensure stable, incremental delivery.Manage technical debt effectively, balancing quick wins with strategic, long-term improvements.Use a divide-and-conquer approach to modernise legacy systems steadily.Combine strategic foresight with hands-on problem-solving to deliver on key projects.Best Practices Advocacy:Champion iterative development processes for efficient, continuous enhancements.Make pragmatic technology decisions rooted in reliability and business value.Uphold high standards of software engineering across the organisation.ABOUT YOU You are a seasoned technical leader with a passion for modernising legacy systems and empowering development teams.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can combine strategic thinking with hands-on expertise.
Technical Expertise:Extensive PHP experience, especially in upgrading versions and modernising legacy systems.Solid proficiency in React, including enhancing and modernising frontend components.Proven ability to implement testing structures for legacy components, along with CI/CD pipelines and PR-focused testing environments.Leadership & Mentoring:Demonstrated success in building and guiding development teams.Strong track record of fostering collaboration, best practices, and a culture of continuous learning.Exceptional communication skills to bridge technical and business objectives.Strategic Problem-Solving:Skilled in remediating outdated libraries and tackling technical debt.Comfortable balancing immediate needs with long-term technical strategy.Adept at translating broad goals into actionable, reliable solutions.If you're eager to drive technical transformation and elevate engineering standards, we'd love to connect with you.
