At Able Foods, we make food with purpose.The RoleThe Supply and Distribution Manager oversees the fulfilment of food orders, ensuring efficiency and quality throughout the process.
The role involves managing suppliers, improving operational performance, and overseeing food safety and compliance.
You will play a key role in optimising our Warehouse Management System, and driving cost efficiency in the supply chain.We are on a Digital transformation journey and you will be responsible to drive digital transformation projects across the business.With a hands-on approach, including site visits and direct collaboration with partners, you'll troubleshoot and resolve supply chain issues while supporting process automation and business analysis initiatives.ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis and Technology ManagementDigital Transformation Project: Lead the implementation of the new ERP system, including the transition to a new inventory management system, serving as the primary point of contact for all technology-related activities within the company.Implementation of IBP (Integrated Business Planning) Software: Oversee the implementation of software to manage supply planning, purchase order (PO) management, demand planning, business intelligence, and end-to-end inventory management.Warehouse Management System (WMS) Implementation: Implement a complete inbound, storage, and fulfilment process on a Warehouse Management System (WMS).Business Process Automation: Drive the automation of various business processes across different business functions.Super User and System Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for internal systems, liaising between internal teams and the IT support team.Fulfilment and Logistics ManagementFulfilment Process Management: Oversee the entire fulfilment process to ensure successful food order fulfilment, including creating pick-pack and routing manifests for efficient deliveries.Submit and manage freight bookings.Act as the liaison for freight companies, ensuring timely communication and follow-up on pickups and deliveries to interstate distribution centres.Monitor public holidays and other factors that may impact freight and last-mile delivery schedules.Delivery Performance Oversight: Review third-party logistics (3PL) providers' delivery performance, evaluate new delivery areas, and recommend improvements to enhance food quality and the delivery experience.Feasibility Study for Fulfilment Process: Conduct a feasibility study on fulfilment processes in VIC, SA, and QLD, aiming to reduce order-to-delivery lead times, similar to the NSW process.Supplier and Partner Relationship ManagementSupplier Management: Manage supplier relationships, ensuring optimal performance and fostering symbiotic partnerships with food, packaging, storage, delivery, and freight partners.Process Ownership: Take ownership of processes and systems supporting supplier activities, including the implementation of inbound, storage, and fulfilment procedures on a WMS.Supplier Performance Improvement: Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to enhance supplier performance and operational efficiency.Operations and On-Site SupervisionOn-Site Supervision: Conduct hands-on site visits (1-2 days a week) to supervise supply chain operations, ensuring quality and efficiency standards are met across the board.Inventory Management: Closely monitor and control stock levels, managing Stock Keeping Units (SKU) and maintaining tight control over inventory and Cost of Goods (COGs).
Work to optimise inventory management, improving margins and minimising stock wastage.Issue and Complaint ManagementCustomer Complaint Management: Maintain and update the customer complaints resolution file, analysing complaints to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.Issue Resolution: Work closely with the Client Support team to troubleshoot and resolve any production, packing, and delivery issues efficiently.Compliance and Quality ManagementFood Safety and Compliance: Manage food safety standards and compliance requirements throughout the supply chain, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and internal quality guidelines.Packaging and Process Improvement: Regularly assess packaging materials (e.g., ice sheets and cartons) and recommend improvements to enhance product quality and delivery experiences.Continuous Improvement and Strategic CollaborationProcess Adjustments and Improvements: Recommend and implement process adjustments to improve food quality, delivery experience, and operational efficiency.Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to align promotional strategies with supply chain capabilities and generate insights from customer data.Penetration Data Analysis: Analyse market penetration data to identify growth opportunities in new regions and adjust strategies accordingly.Shared Responsibilities with the Demand Planning Manager:Backfill for the Demand Planning Manager role where required.Stocktakes: Oversee physical stocktakes while collaborating with the Demand Planning Manager for accuracy.Ordering Behaviour Analysis: Conduct joint analyses of ordering behaviour and generate reports for board members to support strategic decision-making.Supplier Engagement: Participate in regular catch-ups with key suppliers to strengthen relationships and address any issues collaboratively.About YouEssential skills & attributes2+ years experience in a relevant supply chain role.You love systems and processes.
Process maps, flow charts and clear instructions are your thing.Self-motivated and always taking the initiative rather than waiting for something to happen.Excellent communication skills.
