Local Link Advocate - Domestic & Family ViolenceMicah Projects is a community based not-for-profit organisation with a vision to create justice and respond to injustice at the personal, social, and structural levels in church, government, business, and society.

Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.
The Brisbane South Primary Health Network Capacity Building and Local Link Program enhances workforce capabilities within general practices and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services in the southern region of Brisbane LGA.
This program also evaluates referred patients who have suffered from domestic, family, sexual violence, or child sexual abuse, facilitating triage to the most suitable referral services.
Ongoing case management is provided only when necessary, such as when referrals are delayed or for safety reasons.
As a Primary Health DFV Local Link Advocate, you will be part of the Education, Recovery, and Healing team, working to support individuals who have experienced domestic family violence.
Your role will involve connecting with GPs and primary health services to promote safety, equality, and respect for victim-survivors.
This is a fixed term full time employment opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 4/5 dependent upon experience of the SCHADS Award. Key Responsibilities: Build and strengthen referral pathways between primary health care providers and the Local Link service system.Provide case consultation and advice to primary health care providers on recognizing, responding, and referring patients who have experienced domestic, family, or sexual violence, or childhood sexual abuse.Assist in delivering training programs to primary health care providers.Respond to and triage referrals from primary health care providers.Support victims using a trauma-informed approach, providing risk assessment and safety planning.Maintain high-quality case notes and support plans.Establish and maintain positive relationships with government and non-government services.Provide services that adhere to principles of cultural sensitivity.Demonstrated experience in crisis response and case management.Knowledge of current theory and practice relating to sexual violence and domestic and family violence.Ability to work with both government and non-government agencies.Knowledge of culturally sensitive practice when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people from diverse backgrounds.Relevant qualifications and experience.Proficiency in IT systems, including case management systems and Microsoft products.Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.Experience in cross-disciplinary responses to domestic, family, or sexual violence, or childhood sexual abuse.Benefits of working at Micah Projects Join a well-recognised multidisciplinary organisation;Salary Packaging option up to $15,899, increasing your take home pay (additional meals and entertainment card option up to $2,650);Access to other employee benefits, including supply of uniforms, and wellbeing hub;Ongoing professional development opportunities, including further training, so you can broaden your horizons and sharpen your skillset during your time with us;Access to free and confidential Employee Assistance Program.How to Apply If you believe that you have interest, passion, and desire to make a difference in people's lives, please visit the Micah Projects Careers Page to apply for this position.
