With a strong focus on business growth and excellence, P&O's operations span Australasia, South America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The Assistant Human Resources Manager (HRM) is responsible for the development and implementation of the HR Strategic Plan for the Australasian Business (Australia & PNG) and the planning, directing and delivery of Human Resources policies and services, with this role taking a particular focus on supporting our PNG operations.
These policies and services include employee relations, remuneration and benefits, recruitment and selection, induction programs, employment contracts, performance management, workforce planning, payroll and learning and development programs.
The position acts as a key internal advisor and resource to managers at all levels and supports employee welfare and professional development.
Reporting to the regional HR Manager, you will provide high level support and management to vessel operations in Papua New Guinea, and from time to time in Australia.
The HRM position will be based in Melbourne but will require regular travel to Papua New Guinea.
Experience Required Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related management disciplineDemonstrated experience in strategic HR management and the implementation of HR strategies and programs in a multi-site / complex environmentSignificant experience working with marine or industrial workforces.
Experience working in Papua New Guinea or in other developing countries would be especially desirable.Ability to plan, direct and support a broad range of Human Resources policies in support of strategic business and corporate objectivesProficiency in using technology to work remotely and online.Experience in the Maritime Industry, or similar Transport / Logistics IndustriesYou will have strong leadership and influencing skills, combined with highly developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Planning and project management skills and the ability to lead and manage change are crucial.
As a leadership position, you will have a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop others.
