Senior Policy/ Program Officer - Identified Positions Location: Adelaide SA, Alice Springs NT, Bendigo VIC, Brisbane QLD, Canberra ACT, Darwin NT, Hobart TAS, Mackay QLD, Melbourne VIC, Newcastle NSW, Orange NSW, Perth WA, Rockhampton QLD, Sydney NSW, Townsville QLD.

Applications are invited for multiple permanent APS6 positions across the First Nations Employment Policy and Programs Branch, contributing to the delivery of high-priority work.
Various roles will be filled and high performing individuals seeking an exciting opportunity are invited to apply.

The opportunities include working on the design, implementation, and delivery of the new Reconnection, Employment and Learning (REAL) Program, stakeholder engagement, labour market policy advice and development, and shaping the cultural responsiveness of the Employment and Workforce Group in the Department.

The key duties of the position include: Responsibilities of the APS6 officers will include some of the following:
Working in a team to deliver results in relation to First Nations policy, program delivery and/or cultural capability.
Assisting in the implementation of the REAL Program, which will support First Nations people transition from the justice system to employment.
Assisting in embedding the Priority Reforms of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap into employment policy design, with the aim of supporting progress toward the socioeconomic targets related to employment (targets 7 and 8).
Scoping and recommending ways to uplift the cultural capability of the Employment and Workforce Group.
Supporting the Branch to engage with community groups, government partners and First Nations stakeholders.
Identifying research and evidence on what works for employment policy for First Nations peoples and persons with experience of the justice system.
Contributing to employment service reforms – internally and collaboratively engaging with other government agencies.
Please note, under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing.

This is a designated security assessed position.
The successful candidates will have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.

This selection process may be used to establish a merit pool.
The pool might be accessed to fill ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies for similar roles in the Department over the next 18 months.
