How will I help?
This is a multi-year transformation program.
We are currently recruiting the development teams that will form the core of any future ramp up/down driven by the sprint back-log.
In parallel to delivering a top business outcome for the bank, we are looking to build a strong and enduring engineering capability within WIB.

The Senior Software Engineer will be required to design, develop and support the implementation of a cloud native data platform, and you will be working closely with architects and participating in design.
On a day-to-day basis you will collaborate across teams and functions, working with Delivery Leads, Product Owners, Chief Engineers, and DevOps Specialists who are collectively driven to provide industry-leading solutions for the bank and its customers.

Communicating complex ideas and solutions with technical leaders & business stakeholders, the Senior Software Engineer will be well equipped to provide and follow technical engineering advice and recommendations.
Key deliverables of this role will include:
Writing quality, bug-free code Producing project & individual technical design documents Building a data platform, including eventing and APIs Must have strong technical knowledge in the following areas: PySpark Java RESTful APIs Kafka Data Design Demonstrating the below soft skills: Continuous Improvement DNA Ability to work within a highly skilled team as a team member Confidence without the ego Keen to challenge the status quo Proactive A focus on delivering business value above all Providing technical input to the strategic direction of technology investments Identifying & assisting in mitigating the impact of technology dependencies on solution delivery Developing & implementing technology solutions in line with best practices and to agreed timeframes Engaging with Architects, Consultants, Infrastructure and Security Specialists to provide a key link between the technical needs of the business and the solution design Participating in Westpac Engineering communities, and providing constructive feedback to platform teams What's in it for me?

What do I need?
Great communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
You will need to be a team player who is willing to support with ad-hoc duties and responsibilities Strong data design experience, not just program knowledge Must have a strong background in data design Must have a strong knowledge of AWS technologies Must have a very technical background Good written and verbal communication skills Prior experience in solution design and working as a solution designer across multiple programs Background in software development & agile methodologies Experience in complex solution designs and hands-on experience within implementation phases Min 5 years' experience in a similar role What's it like to work there?
