The VP Accounting and Controlling is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing operational efficiency, and financial integrity of the accounting function in Austria. This role requires a seasoned professional with a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and strong skills to drive performance, foster collaboration, and ensure compliance across the organization.

Tasks

**Strategic Leadership**:

- Develop and implement strategic plans for the accounting in alignment with the organization’s objectives.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization to enhance productivity and service delivery.

**Operational Management**:

- Overview of day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliation activities for Austrian entities and potentially in the future, other entities of the group.

**Internal controls**:

- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements. Provide training and guidance to finance and operational teams on internal control best practices and compliance requirements.
- Design and implement effective internal control procedures and processes to mitigate identified risks and ensure the integrity and reliability of financial information.
- Perform testing of key internal controls to assess their operational effectiveness, identify control deficiencies, and recommend remedial actions as necessary. Establish monitoring mechanisms to track ongoing compliance and effectiveness of controls.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of internal control processes, including control matrices, narratives, flowcharts, and testing results. Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing control deficiencies, findings, and recommendations for management review.

**Tax Compliance**:

- Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, including VAT, corporate income tax, and other relevant taxes.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure compliance.

**Audit Support**:

- Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Establish and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Implement audit recommendations to enhance internal controls and processes.

**Process Improvement**:

- Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and develop solutions to streamline operations and improve accuracy.
- Implement best practices for financial management and reporting.

**Stakeholder Engagement**:

- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including finance leadership, functional heads, and external partners.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on performance, address concerns, and solicit feedback for continuous improvement.

**Requirements**:

- Completed training in the field of accounting and accounting (WIFI accounting course is a must)
- Proficiency in German and English
- 7+ years of professional experience.
- Confident in using MS Office and accounting software and ideally have SOX knowledge.
- Understanding of current laws, standards and regulations of accounting and tax law
- Excellent understanding of numbers and UGB
- Resilience and ability to maintain an overview even in difficult situations.
- Self-reliant and independent management of finance-related projects
- Strong understanding of economic relationships and dynamics
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
