Postdoctoral Research Associate in Viticulture

Within the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, Austria, the Institute of Viticulture and Pomology focuses on using training and innovative research to provide the Austrian wine and grapevine industries with well-qualified human resources, cutting edge technology and the latest scientific knowledge. The viticultural research fields covered in the institute include cultivation practices, ecophysiology, physiology, remote sensing, climate change, grapevine biology and molecular stress physiology focusing on abiotic and biotic stress interactions. **Responsibilities** - undergraduate and graduate teaching in viticulture - conducting and active and productive research program in viticulture (e.g. combined stresses (abiotic and biotic) host-parasite interaction, stress signaling of grapevines, linking fundamental research to applied viticulture - expanding the existing research programs in viticulture, as well as agricultural sciences in general; securing funds to support the research program - continuously publishing research results by means of articles and conference papers - coordination and conducting of the field research - developing national and international research and industry partnerships and providing services to the Department, the university and the wine industries **Required skills and qualifications** - PhD in viticulture, horticulture, agronomy, plant sciences, biology or a suitable related field - a proven record of teaching in viticulture with experience in online teaching - expertise in "omic" techniques (e.g. transcriptomics, metabolomics) in plants and in conducting both field and lab-based experiments - an excellent and sustained record of published research in peer-reviewed journals - experience in setting up and management of resources and infrastructure for research - the demonstrated ability to obtain research funds and successfully conducting research projects Recommendations - good interpersonal and communication skills - a keen interest in a research field that is a good fit with the Division's research profile and experience in research project management - fluent English and German language (German can be aquired within the first 3 years) Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.061,50 People with disabilities and appropriate qualifications are specifically encouraged to apply.
