University Assistant

A full post-doc position as university assistant is available at the Department of Art History from

Your job responsibilities include:

- assisting a professor in teaching, research, and editorial work
- independent teaching on a range of themes in the History of Islamic Art (two undergraduate

seminars per term)
- participation in administrative tasks relating to the Department.

Teaching can be done in German or English.

**Requirements**:

- completed doctorate and excellent research work in History of Islamic Art
- a current scholarly project that you will carry out and finish on this job position (preferably leading

to a state thesis or a substantial book monograph)
- knowledge of at least one of the main languages of textual sources in History of Islamic Art (Arabic,

Persian, Ottoman-Turkish).
- a summary and the table of contents of your PhD thesis; a summary and the table of contents of your master thesis;
- syllabi for two different undergraduate seminars (or “Proseminar,” “Fallstudie”) that you would like to teach
- a detailed exposé of your scholarly project.
