**About the project**:
PP2A comprises a large family of trimeric holoenzymes, each of which consist of a catalytic C (PP2Ac), a structural A (PP2Aa) and a regulatory B-type subunit. The assembly of PP2A trimers with tumor-suppressive functions is regulated by the reversible methylation of the PP2A catalytic subunit. Carboxyterminal methylation is catalyzed by the SAM-dependent methyltransferase LCMT-1 and demethylation by the PP2A methylesterase PME-1. Our latest data revealed that methionine starvation leads to the demethylation of PP2Ac that could partially be rescued with drugs developed to restore PP2A tumor-suppressive functions. How these drugs act on PP2A and how the methionine metabolism affects PP2A holoenzyme regulation are major questions to be answered in this project.

**Requirements**:

- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in natural sciences (Molecular biology, Biochemistry, or a related field)
- Ability to plan, execute und analyze well controlled experiments
- Analytical and strategical thinking
- Very good command of written and spoken English

**Preferred Background**:

- Experience in mammalian cell culture and in CRISPR/Cas9 techniques.
- Expertise in molecular biology techniques (e.g. cloning and PCR) and biochemical methods (such as protein purification, Western Blot, FPLC, enzyme assays).
