Senior Manager, Regional Access Austria

In this role, you will act as lead responsible for key market access and launch activities in both Austria and Switzerland and will drive local market access tactics and initiatives to secure pricing and reimbursement of pegcetacoplan in Geographic Atrophy in both countries. In close cooperation with the sales, marketing and medical departments and in line with the overall commercial business strategy, you will outline and develop pharmaceutical service concepts and solutions to deal with key pharmaceutical market players, including hospitals in Austria, inpatient and outpatient retina specialist units in Swiss AMD treatment centers, general ophthalmologists, public pharmacies, sick funds, pharmacies’ associations, medical associations and health policy makers.
All activities will be conducted in close collaboration with the Country Lead for Austria and Switzerland and the Head of Value, Access & Policy of the DACH region.
Tasks
- Organize meetings with lead buyers in Austria and payer-clinician advisory boards in Switzerland, developing necessary steps for securing the optimal road to pricing and reimbursement in both countries.
- Lead key initiatives on the Swiss dossier submission to BAG (Bundesamt for Gesundheit) and assume key responsibility for subsequent price negotiations.
- Prior to BAG reimbursement of pegcetacoplan in Switzerland, act as key point of contact with Swiss sick funds in support of case-by-case reimbursement in accordance with Article 71c and in line with the Apellis global pricing strategy. Calculate rating (OLU non Onko tool) and lead negotiations with insurances.
- Support capacity planning in both Austria and Switzerland through appropriate stakeholder communication.
- Secure listing of pegcetacoplan in Geographic Atrophy within the Austrian hospital sector and across Swiss AMD treatment centres via relevant value-based argumentation and stakeholder interaction
- Assume responsibility for negotiations with lead buyers of Austrian hospitals in line with the company-defined pricing strategy.
- Identify market-specific needs of prescribers, pharmaceutical decision makers and health policy stakeholders, support necessary steps for securing remuneration of ophthalmologist services and develop tailor-made pharmaceutical service solutions, including HEOR-related strategic initiatives.
- Establish and maintain a network amongst opinion leaders, insurance companies, physicians’ associations and health policy makers
- Lead national policy initiatives on Geographic Atrophy in both Austria and Switzerland
- Acquire essential information about pharmaceutical developments within the Austrian and Swiss Health Care System at the earliest stage ("Horizon Scanning") and deliver relevant information by monitoring and identifying opportunities and threats for terms of dispensation, and specific terms of pricing and reimbursement.
- Keep abreast of early market opportunities and threats, closely monitoring the competitive landscape, and addressing individual situations and challenges through creative concepts and solutions.
- Position and represent Apellis and pegcetacoplan in Geographic Atrophy in the best possible way towards all relevant healthcare bodies in the respective regional territories.
- Initiate and organize local/regional events and pharmaceutical projects to support pricing and reimbursement activities. Provide explanations and training materials regarding correct dispensation, patients´ and prescribers´ information and documentation of pegcetacoplan.
- Support sales force in all pharmaceutical reimbursement matters, including but not limited to supportive argumentation on the value, applicable usage and budget impact of pegcetacoplan in Geographic Atrophy, participating in regional ophthalmology network meetings and addressing reimbursement-related questions.
- Prepare pharmaceutical argumentation and information material and execute training of sales force on market access-related topics.
- Gathering all information and data to prepare contractual basis to create hospital agreements (Austria)
**Requirements**:
- University degree or post graduate diploma, preferably in Pharmacy and ideally including an additional health economic background
- At least 6-8 years of experience in a related regional market access role within the pharmaceutical industry, with regional access experience in both Austria and Switzerland
- Ophthalmology market knowledge and prior ophthalmology experience strongly preferred
- Established network and experience in working with statutory health insurance companies, hospital lead buyers and ophthalmology department heads in both Austria and Switzerland and passed experience in BAG dossier submissions and Swiss price negotiations.
