Senior Platform Engineer

You thrive in building the backbone of modern software development and internal developer platforms. You create smooth, automated, and scalable developer experiences by designing robust platforms, streamlining pipelines, and optimizing delivery processes. If you love solving infrastructure challenges, enabling development teams, and shaping the way software is delivered—this is for you.

• Platform Development: Design and implement platform components and golden paths used by product teams to enhance software delivery and developer productivity.
• Automation & IaC: Build scalable and repeatable infrastructure using Terraform, Pulumi, Crossplane or similar tools.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Develop and optimize continuous integration and deployment pipelines with GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar.
• Cloud & Kubernetes: Build and operate container platforms in public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure) with Kubernetes to create reliable, scalable platforms.
• Security & Observability: Ensure platform security and reliability by implementing state-of-the-art observability stacks, utilizing standards like OpenTelemetry.
• Client Collaboration: Work directly with the client to understand challenges and implement tailored platform solutions.
• Knowledge Sharing: Support knowledge transfer within SQUER and contribute to the tech community.
• Ownership: Take ownership of individual components and platforms that support individual product teams.

• GitOps: Familiarity with GitOps principles and version-controlled infrastructure workflows utilizing tools such as ArgoCD and Flux.
• Infrastructure as Code: Experience using tools like Terraform, Pulumi or Crossplane to define and manage infrastructure in a repeatable, reliable way.
• CI/CD: Experience designing and extending pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, and automation frameworks.
• Security Knowledge: Understanding of security best practices for pipeline and platform security as well as data protection, and compliance.
• Nice-to-Have: Special Kubernetes knowledge at CKA level, Programming skills (e.g. Golang, Rust with clean code principles).
• Mindset: You are outcome-oriented, client-focused, hands-on, and always eager to improve platforms and processes.
• Communication: Ability to break down complex topics and explain them in a clear and easy to understand way that makes sense to both engineers and clients.
• Languages: Fluent in English; German is a plus
