Job Title: Commodity Analyst / Junior Trader Location: Sydney, Australia Job Description: Prodigal is a global quantitative trading firm that applies unique statistical strategies to the global markets. Our relative value approach produces exceptional returns through a diverse portfolio of thoroughly tested, risk-controlled strategies.We are seeking a Commodity Analyst / Junior Trader to join our team, with a focus on energy, metals and other commodity-linked exposures. The successful candidate will work a mix of night shifts to trade European and North American markets, and day shifts trading North American and Asian markets.You will be involved in both the analytical and execution side of our commodity-related strategies. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and execute trades in real-time across multiple markets. Manage risk through diligent oversight of trading positions. Research commodity-producing companies, including how and where they produce, key production centres, logistics, and exposure to underlying commodity price movements Prepare daily reports summarizing trading activities and performance. Operate trading and portfolio management related systems, ensuring seamless operations and optimised workflow Liaising with fund administrators and brokers to ensure accurate trade settlements and unit pricing Collaborate with the research team to develop and refine trading strategies. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mining Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or a related quantitative field. Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Basic understanding of financial markets and trading principles. Demonstrated interest in commodity markets and how they impact companies and macro trends. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; programming skills (e.g., Python, C++) are a plus. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Ability to work in a dynamic team-based environment. Willingness to work night shifts and adapt to a rotating, global-market-driven schedule.
