Team In Agoda’s Back End Engineering department we build scalable, fault‑tolerant systems and APIs that host core business logic. Our systems cover inventory, pricing, product information, customer data, communications, partner data, booking systems, payments, and more. These mission‑critical systems change frequently with dozens of releases per day, so we use state‑of‑the‑art CI/CD, testing techniques and high‑availability patterns. Opportunity Agoda Platform team seeks experienced engineers to work on mission‑critical systems that serve millions of users daily. You'll drive architectural decisions, build new services, and make a significant impact on business and travel industry. Responsibilities Architect and develop highly scalable, mission‑critical back end systems Own a significant portion of Agoda’s system from vision to bytecode level Enable impactful collaboration and cross‑team projects, improving service quality, code, and architecture Provide thoughtful feedback, nurture an inclusive engineering environment, and champion engineering fundamentals Identify and implement optimization opportunities across the technology stack, focusing on cost, efficiency, velocity, and developer happiness Exhibit technical leadership across the organization, conveying complex trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders, including business owners and C‑suite executives Qualifications 10+ years of software engineering experience Proven hands‑on experience owning production services with significant impact on design, development, deployment, monitoring, and evolution Curiosity and passion for staying up‑to‑date with technological improvements and open‑source advancements Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Scala, Java, C# (or equivalent) Ability to research deeply and decide on complex projects; comfortable working independently or as part of a team Strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical details to stakeholders at all levels Broad understanding of the engineering ecosystem (front‑end, mobile, data, analytics) and trade‑offs across teams Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field Nice To Have Master’s or Ph.D. in a technical field Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and scaling Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and related practices Experience programming with Rust, C, or other low‑level languages Location & Relocation Bangkok, Thailand.
