Quayclean Australia is looking for enthusiastic, outgoing, and environmentally conscious individuals to join the Australian Open team as Waste Engagement Officers, also known as our “Trash Talkers.” In this role, you’ll connect with patrons to promote sustainable waste practices. You’ll also work behind the scenes to sort waste and help boost recycling rates, making the Australian Open a cleaner, greener event. Key Responsibilities Engage with Patrons: Proactively approach and educate patrons on sustainable waste disposal, guiding them toward environmentally friendly choices. Promote the Container Deposit Scheme: Create awareness about Victoria's new CDS program, informing patrons how they can participate at home by collecting eligible containers and returning them for a 10 cent refund. Sort and Optimise Waste Streams: Assist with waste sorting behind the scenes, ensuring recycling, CDS, organics, glass, soft plastics, general waste and other unique waste streams are properly separated to maximize recycling rates. Explaining and promoting the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme to patrons, helping enhance general public awareness of the scheme. Raise Awareness: Share tips on waste reduction, recycling, and the CDS to foster a sustainable mindset among attendees. Support Event Operations: Collaborate with Quayclean’s waste management team to monitor waste stations, maintain cleanliness, and assist with logistics as needed. Qualifications & Skills Passionate about sustainability and waste reduction. Outgoing & Approachable – comfortable starting conversations with patrons. Energetic – able to stay active and engaged in a high-energy environment. Positive Attitude – driven to encourage change and influence positive behaviors.
