Functional Business Analyst

Initial 6-month contract | Hybrid Working | North Sydney Location We are seeking a Functional Business Analyst to join our client on an initial 6-month contract. In this role you will support a global provider of investigative analytics and intelligence software, with their database uplift. You will act as an intermediary between business stakeholders and the technical/development team, communicating requirements, changes, and their impact clearly to all relevant parties. We are seeking candidates who can elicit, document, and validate detailed functional and non-functional system requirements from stakeholders, ensuring requirements are unambiguous, measurable, testable, and aligned with business objectives. Accountabilities Comparing documented requirements against the developed or proposed system design and functionality Resolving discrepancies and conflicts between different sources of requirements (e.g., user requests vs. technical constraints) Baseline management of approved requirements throughout the project lifecycle Performing 'as-is' versus 'to-be' analysis to identify the differences (gaps) between the current business process or system and the desired future state defined by the requirements Quantifying the effort, cost, and risk associated with closing identified gaps and proposing solutions, workarounds, or changes to either the requirements or the system design to bridge the gaps Establishing and maintaining a traceability matrix to link system requirements to their origin (e.g., a specific business need), and forward to subsequent project deliverables Specifically mapping requirements to design specifications and test cases (e.g., User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test cases) Ensuring every requirement is covered by at least one UAT test case, and vice versa, to verify complete system validation Skills and Experience A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Technical Business Analyst with solid experience in delivering large scale digital transformation or system implementation projects Hands‑on experience working in Agile environments, with a strong understanding of Agile principles and methodologies Experience working with software vendors / technology providers Experience working with tools such as the Atlassian Suite of products and Office 365, experience with APIs, Microsoft SQL and SQL Stored Procedures Experience working on digital transformation projects involving the migration from legacy systems to modern digital solutions This role is based in North Sydney and requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, and the rate is $800 + super per day.
