Band 2 General Hotel Services Assistant - Salisbury Housekeepers support the nursing staff in providing a safe and appropriate environment for patient care. Duties include general cleaning of all ward and departmental areas, as well as the preparation, presentation, and service of patients' meals. Housekeepers are expected to demonstrate a flexible attitude to their work to meet the needs of the ward and its patients. Our hours for morning shifts are 10:00 to 18:00. Main duties of the job General Hotel Services Assistants (GHSAs) are expected to support all cleaning and catering-related activities at ward level. This role involves working in an environment with frequent distractions and regular contact with service users who may display disturbed or challenging behaviour. Job responsibilities Carry out general cleaning duties as required, including sanitary areas, bedrooms, communal areas, and offices. Regenerate and serve frozen meals, and complete associated tasks such as washing up and cleaning kitchens and dining rooms. b) Catering Provide a catering service to support the ward-based patient meal service, including preparing sandwiches, rolls, salads, and snacks for patients. Ensure the safe storage and handling of all food items, including cook‑freeze meals, in compliance with Trust policy and current legislation. Maintain a hygienic and clean condition in the catering department, including associated areas, equipment, and utensils. Sort, pack, and deliver cook‑freeze meals, fresh and ambient goods, and all associated catering items to wards on a daily, weekly, or as‑needed basis, ensuring compliance with Trust policy and legislation. Deliver and collect function catering items to various areas of the unit as required, ensuring compliance with Trust policy and legislation. Collect and deliver between wards and departments: post, stores, laundry, pharmacy items, medical gases, pathological specimens, furniture, and equipment. Perform postal duties, including the collection, sorting, and delivery of all postal items. Report all sightings of pests to the Help Desk or Supervisor. Ensure all information relating to patients and staff is kept confidential. Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be requested.
