Food Services Coordinator – MLC Marshmead MLC Marshmead is a leading independent girls’ school renowned for its innovative learning environment, exceptional wellbeing programs, and world‑class educational opportunities. As part of our commitment to empowering students to become confident, resilient global citizens, MLC Marshmead offers a transformative eight‑week experiential learning program for Year 9 students on our 114‑hectare environmentally sustainable campus near Mallacoota. We are seeking a dedicated and community‑minded Food Services Coordinator to join the MLC Marshmead team. This role is pivotal in supporting the smooth, efficient, and student‑centred operation of the Marshmead program. About the Role The Food Services Coordinator oversees the ordering, preparation, and presentation of food for the Marshmead community and contributes meaningfully to both student experience and community wellbeing. This hands‑on position involves managing catering operations, working closely with students, supporting the curriculum, and ensuring sustainable food practices that align with the ethos of the Marshmead program. Key Responsibilities Catering Coordination Order and manage all food and cleaning supplies, ensuring safe and reliable stock rotation. Coordinate weekly food pickups and deliveries for the campus. Mentor and supervise the Catering Assistant in the daily operations of the commercial kitchen. Support students with menu planning and food ordering. Manage the Marshmead food budget with responsibility and efficiency. Collaborate with the Director to bring innovative, nutritious, and engaging culinary experiences to the community. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and compliance within all catering areas. Plan, prepare, and deliver meals for approximately 100 community members weekly, with careful attention to dietary needs. Contribute to food curriculum delivery, incorporating produce from the Marshmead farm and emphasising sustainable, seasonal, and local ingredients. Build positive, supportive relationships with students, fostering an inclusive, caring environment. Support the broader student residential program, including involvement in duty shifts. Work collaboratively with colleagues to uphold a positive, professional team culture. Team Collaboration Build strong relationships across the Marshmead community through proactive communication and teamwork. Other Responsibilities Work both autonomously and as part of an integrated team. Comply with all College policies, standards, and safety practices. Participate in training, meetings, and professional development. Undertake additional tasks as required to support the Marshmead program. About MLC Marshmead MLC Marshmead is located in a remote and environmentally sensitive area near Mallacoota, accessible by boat or vehicle. The site includes a residential village, working farm, and sustainably designed staff accommodation. Staff may live on‑site or commute, depending on individual circumstances. Each term, a new cohort of 65–72 Year 9 students join the Marshmead program to engage in an immersive curriculum centred on environmental sustainability, personal growth, and community living. About You – Essential Criteria Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organised with excellent attention to detail. Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. Able to work independently and collaboratively. Commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement. Relevant food industry qualifications, certifications, or experience (training supported by the College). Experience cooking for large groups with varied dietary needs. Proficiency in digital tools and administration systems. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Commitment to sustainability and interest in global environmental issues related to food. Sound knowledge of nutrition, food preparation, and health/hygiene regulations. Ability to contribute positively to a small residential community. Current Employee Working With Children Check and Australian working rights. Alignment with the values and professional standards of MLC. Desirable Experience working in an industrial kitchen environment. Additional food industry qualifications.
