Occupation: Education and training Location: Melbourne - Northern suburbs Reference: Selection Criteria Highly developed organisation and information technology skills including a Library Management System (LMS) and ClickView. High level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills, including the capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and members of the broader community. A clear capacity to develop a working knowledge of children’s and young adult literature and secondary school curriculum, especially the Victorian Essential Learning Standards, Australian Curriculum and the VCE Study Designs. Prior experience in or capacity to deliver student and youth library services. Capacity to actively contribute to the development of the school’s educational program and a broad range of activities as a member of the staff team. Demonstrated capacity to reflect upon and improve professional practice with a commitment to ongoing professional learning. Role Provide information and wider reading services to the students and staff of the school. Manage acquisition and cataloguing of Library resources. Supervise audiovisual equipment and services. Plan and conduct Library and research skills tutorials for students at all levels. Advise teaching staff on relevant resources to support the teaching of the curriculum. Assist with the supervision of students in various situations as appropriate. Manage the school’s archives. Manage LMS (library Management System) Destiny, including cataloguing, maintaining resource records (equipment register), maintaining student and staff records, and overdue notices. Assist with management of electronic and web-based resources, including ClickView. Support implementation of library programs and projects. Maintain and create displays and signage. Other duties as assigned by the principal. Responsibilities The Librarian will be responsible for: Management of library staff, building, resources, equipment and budget. Ensuring all resources are current, relevant, appropriate, regularly updated (weeded) and catalogued. Manage subscription services and memberships. The selection, creation, management and promotion of electronic and web-based information resources, such as research guides and online video systems. Provision of expert knowledge and delivery of literature resources and literacy programmes to support the literacy needs of students and staff for both learning and recreational purposes. Assisting students to develop information literacy skills. The production of the yearbook The Benalta. Creating, managing and appropriately disposing of public records in accordance with the Public Records Act 1973 (Vic) standards, the policy and guidance issued by the Public Records Office Victoria (PROV).
