The work area RevenueWA collects revenue on behalf of the Government and pays grants and subsidies to Western Australians. Although a business unit within DTF, the Commissioner of State Revenue is an independent statutory role and is personally responsible for the administration of State taxation and grant laws by RevenueWA staff. This administrative function covers the application of duties, land tax and payroll tax laws, as well as carrying out compliance audits and investigations, and developing revenue related legislation. RevenueWA increases taxpayer awareness through education programs and manages the legislative appeals process. The Department of Treasury and Finance currently operates under two sets of organisational values, following its formation on 1 July 2025. The role The Senior Revenue Officer is part of a larger team responsible for determining the amount of transfer duty to charge on transactions. The duty raised contributes towards the State Government’s revenue collections that are used to benefit the Western Australian community. This role reviews documents such as commercial contracts, trust deeds and financial statements for a range of complex transactions, then interprets and applies the legislation to determine the appropriate amount of duty to charge and consider whether any relief or exemption from duty applies. Senior Revenue Officers assist in the call centre to provide advice to the public about duties and using our online services. There is currently one permanent position available for filling.
