Overview Merrylands, New South Wales – Cumberland City Council is located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country. The Council serves a diverse community of over 245,000 residents and focuses on delivering innovative community outcomes. About The Opportunity The Events team delivers a wide range of community events, including major cultural celebrations such as Australia Day, Lunar New Year, Easter, Ramadan Street Festival, Nowruz, Diwali, Christmas and the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival. The Events Producer will work with the Events Team to develop and implement Council’s Events Strategy, planning, organising and executing events through the full event lifecycle from development, through delivery, evaluation, assessment and reporting. Responsibilities The primary responsibility is to plan, organise and execute a variety of Council events in line with the Council’s Events Strategy, ensuring successful delivery of all events across the community. Qualifications Relevant qualification in Event Management or related industry experience in delivery of events. Extensive event management experience. Extensive working knowledge of event site operations, logistics, risk management and compliance. Well‑developed interpersonal skills and experience in stakeholder management. Well‑developed project management skills. High level of interpersonal and customer service skills. Demonstrated commitment to the provision of high‑quality customer service. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Commercially minded, contributing ideas that are passionate, creative, and demonstrate an ability to think innovatively with respect to projects within major community events. Demonstrated research and analytical skills, ability to work independently and as a team member. Working with Children Check. About This Role Part‑time, 1x term contract commencing 12 January 2026 until 30 June 2026. Working 56 hours every fortnight, with core hours between 8:00am and 4:30pm; may be required to work after‑hours and weekends to deliver events. Located at Council’s Merrylands office; working may be required across any of Council’s facilities. Salary & Conditions Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with an hourly rate of $50.44 to $58.00 per week plus 12% superannuation. Commencing salary will be negotiated based on qualifications, skills and experience related to the role. What You'll Need To Have For This Role The right to live and work in Australia. Ability to provide information for pre‑employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre‑employment medical examination as required. Participation in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
