About the Role We are seeking a professional, passionate, organised and proactive Tour Host / Tour Guide to accompany and support our over‑60s travellers on our group tours. This role is on the road – you will travel with the group, representing On Course Travel and ensuring that every guest feels welcomed, informed and well looked after. Your “office” is on the coach, in the hotel lobby, at sightseeing stops and around the dinner table. Key Responsibilities Create an inclusive, friendly atmosphere and be the primary point of contact for travellers throughout the tour. Provide interesting and engaging commentary on the destinations visited – including history, local stories, landmarks, wildlife and points of interest. Deliver clear daily briefings so guests know what’s happening, when and where. Research and update commentary notes before and during tours to keep content fresh and relevant. Look out for guest wellbeing, particularly for older travellers and those needing extra support. Assist with check‑ins, meals, seating, comfort stops and activity coordination to ensure a smooth experience. Liaise with coach drivers, local guides, hotels and restaurants to keep the itinerary running smoothly. Manage headcounts, timing and transitions between daily activities. Handle minor on‑tour changes or issues calmly and professionally. Communicate any operational concerns or feedback back to the office team. Maintain high standards of presentation, reliability and conduct. About You We’re looking for a people‑focused, travel-loving storyteller who genuinely enjoys helping others and bringing destinations to life. You will bring: A proven ability to listen to customer needs, show empathy and provide outstanding customer service. A high degree of care with strong organisation and problem‑sensing skills. Excellent communication skills – confident speaking on a microphone to a group. A natural ability to tell stories and share information in an engaging, easy-to-understand way. Experience working to schedules and timelines, with the ability to stay calm when plans change. Openness and adaptability to changing priorities and guest needs. Experience in any of the following will be highly regarded: Tour guiding, tour hosting or coach commentary. Teaching, acting, presenting, public speaking, community or group leadership.
