Manage complex musculoskeletal cases in Westmead’s dynamic Emergency Department and lead advanced physiotherapy care. Collaborative, patient‑focused environment Strong commitment to professional development and research Inclusive team culture that values expertise and innovation Opportunities to contribute to service planning and quality improvement Located in the heart of Western Sydney with excellent transport links What you’ll be doing As an Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in the Emergency Department, you will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based physiotherapy services to patients with complex presentations. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership and innovation in a challenging, rewarding setting. Key responsibilities Deliver advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy care for ED patients Manage a busy caseload and prioritise care based on clinical need Provide respiratory physiotherapy, mobility assessments and orthopaedic management Act as a resource and mentor for physiotherapy staff, offering clinical guidance Drive quality improvement initiatives and contribute to policy development Essential criteria Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy Current General Physiotherapy Registration under AHPRA Selection criteria Significant clinical experience in physiotherapy, with substantial experience working in the emergency department and/or as a primary contact practitioner treating challenging patients with chronic and complex conditions. Extensive post‑graduate clinical experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and demonstrated core competency skills in cardiorespiratory, orthopaedic, gerontology, and neurological physiotherapy. Demonstrated experience in the development of clinical physiotherapy policies and procedures and/or guidelines. Demonstrated ability to provide a consultancy service across a wide geographical area. Excellent negotiation, decision‑making and advocacy skills, including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders across all organisational levels. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes, and lead ongoing quality‑improvement activities with other staff. Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature. Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and teaching, and clinical supervision and teaching of undergraduate/graduate entry‑level students.
