Senior Investigations Officer

About The Role Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Senior Investigations Officer will manage and provide advice on complaints involving serious quality and safety issues and/or breaches of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (the Act) and human rights. The role will involve the identification of opportunities for service improvement through investigations, undertakings, recommendations, and coaching and advice to services. The Senior Investigations Officer will have expertise in mental health law and will provide advice to colleagues as a technical specialist. They will also assist with the development of new practices and processes for the Investigations team. About Us The MHWC support and drive transformation by promoting an honest and accountable mental health system. This includes: Monitor and report on the performance, quality and safety of the mental health and wellbeing system. Hold government to account with the ability to initiate its own inquiries into matters that support its objectives; handle and investigate complaints about mental health and wellbeing service delivery. Monitor government's progress in reforming the system and ensuring the system meets the expectations of people with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress, their families, carers and supporters. Exemplify and enable lived experience leadership. The MHWC includes Commissioners with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress and lived experience as a family member, carer, or supporter. About You A tertiary qualification preferably in health or human services/ dispute resolution/ investigations/ law. A formal qualification or recognised credentials in fields related to investigations and assessment of quality and standards. Extensive recent and relevant experience in the conduct of sensitive and complex investigations and/or reviews.
