We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants – Mainstream for permanent and fixed term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. We also offer a variety of specialist subjects including Music, Science, History, Physical Education and Health. The Challis Parenting and Early Learning Centre offers a selection of health, education and social services including a Child Health Nurse, new mothers' groups, playgroups and parent education sessions. The Role We are seeking Education Assistants who are well organised, able to use their initiative to assist with the management of classroom, school, and phase of learning resources. Suitable applicants will ideally also value their positions within the school community and seek to support one another and the school's goals wherever possible. Strong behaviour management skills would be considered advantageous. You should exhibit qualities of kindness and compassion while always maintaining consistency when working with children. Suitable applicants should, under teacher direction, assist in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies; implement individual or small group programmes and be able to provide valuable feedback to support student learning. They will ideally assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials, and resources for use in classes, displays and demonstrations. They should also assist the teacher with clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities. Suitable applicants will ideally have initiative and carry out tasks efficiently, as well as working as an effective team member. Eligibility Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start. Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
