Join a leading Melbourne-based structural steel fabrication business servicing the residential construction sector. We are seeking a Housing Structural Steel Estimator to support growing demand across our fabrication and installation projects. This role is ideal for someone who understands the technical side of structural steel and motivated to build a career as an Estimator within a supportive and high calibre team. As a Structural Steel Estimator you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely estimates for residential builds. You will work closely with engineering, drafting, and fabrication teams to ensure quotes are aligned with project scope, timelines, and buildability requirements. The Role Work directly with a long-established, high-performing fabrication team Exposure to a wide variety of residential structural steel projects Opportunity to grow into a senior estimating or project coordination role Supportive culture and strong pipeline of work. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed steel take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings Prepare accurate estimates for fabrication hours, shop drawings, and installation timeframes Liaise with internal teams and builders to clarify scope and ensure smooth project handover Review plans for constructability and highlight potential issues early Assist with quoting variations and revisions as required Enter and manage project data within internal systems (SAP experience an advantage). About You We’re looking for someone who understands structural steel and brings proven experience in residential steel estimation We are happy to speak to people starting out in their career or people already established in their career and looking for a new challenge Experience with structural steel estimation within a fabrication environment would be advantageous Ability to read and interpret structural/architectural plans with confidence Strong understanding of residential construction methods and sequencing High attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines SAP experience (advantageous but not essential).
