Queensland Fire Department – Relations & Standards Role Location: Kedron, 4031. Employment type: Full‑time, temporary flexible. Tenure Period: 3 months with possibility of extension. About the Queensland Fire Department The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services across Queensland, delivering a multi‑hazard emergency response that includes road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and community safety functions. It encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue, Rural Fire Service Queensland and a broader department dedicated to mitigating the consequences of fires and other emergencies while supporting a large volunteer membership. Role Purpose The Relations and Standards branch ensures the QFD workforce upholds the highest professional and ethical standards expected of the Queensland Government and the community. As part of this branch, you will advise and support regional and state senior managers, staff and volunteers, developing strategies to reduce poor workplace conduct and strengthen positive workplace experiences. Your work will also improve systems and processes for safe and sustainable service delivery. Primary Responsibilities Provide advice on strategies to manage complex performance and conduct matters, ensuring governance and compliance. Partner with stakeholders to design, develop and deliver resources that support line managers, including volunteers, in managing employee conduct and performance. Analyse performance and conduct data to identify trends, issues and opportunities for continuous improvement and positive culture change. Develop reports to contribute solutions that build and retain an inclusive, diverse and capable workforce. Support regional and state offices in building capability for driving high performance and managing complex conduct and performance matters. Prepare and review reports, briefs, submissions and presentations on key topics and research activities related to conduct and performance matters. Build and sustain partnerships with key stakeholders to reduce instances of poor conduct and improve workplace outcomes. Undertake research projects, including data collection, analysis and evaluation, and provide recommendations to solve issues. Key Requirements Minimum C Class Driver’s Licence (non‑restricted). Extensive knowledge and/or practical experience in human resources or employee relations, or qualifications in these fields. Special Requirements Ability to travel and work within the area of responsibility, including intrastate and interstate deployment, with potential overnight stays.
