Job Description The Network Engineer will be required to undertake design, installation and support of an extensive corporate network environment. The Network Engineer will perform the following duties and responsibilities: Carry out consolidation of legacy networks onto the current ASD baseline network architecture through the provision of detailed design, configuration, implementation, documentation and post-installation activities. Undertake network installations in accordance with detailed design documentation and guidance. Provide second level support incident Response to the ASD Top Secret Network environment in support of the Defence Intelligence Agencies and other customers. Key Duties and Responsibilities The role requires candidates to possess the following skills and qualifications: Well-developed knowledge with either Juniper, CISCO or HP Network Equipment. CISCO and/or Juniper Certifications. Proven experience with OSPF and BGP routing as well as MPLS technologies. Proven experience in network systems configuration, testing and installations. Works under broad direction. Work is often self-initiated. Is fully responsible for meeting allocated technical and/or project/supervisory objectives. Establishes milestones and has a significant role in the assignment of tasks and/or responsibilities. Influences organisation, customers, suppliers, partners and peers on the contribution of own specialism. Builds appropriate and effective business relationships. Makes decisions which impact the success of assigned work, i.e. results, deadlines and budget. Has significant influence over the allocation and management of resources appropriate to given assignments. Performs an extensive range and variety of complex technical and/or professional work activities. Undertakes work which requires the application of fundamental principles in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts. Understands the relationship between own specialism and wider customer/organisational requirements.
