Head of Pre-Contracts Power Projects

Description The Head of Pre‑Contracts Power is to expand Downers Energy & Utilities business through the growth and development of the Power Projects Line of Business in Australia. Working to position the business, developing relationships with customers and ensuring opportunities fit within the business growth strategy and align to the Five Cs (i.e. Capacity, Capability, Counterparty, Contract & Compensation). The successful applicant can envision themselves attending to duties such as: What you’ll do Supporting the growth strategy of the Power Projects Line of Business through the management and resourcing of all tender opportunities Managing the growth and career development of the Pre‑Contracts team Actively participating in the commercial review of tenders, facilitating alignment of understanding between operations, commercial and legal representatives Assisting in contract negotiations and supporting Managers at post‑tender interviews as required Liaising with external bodies, clients, consultants, sub‑contractors and suppliers to develop bids and establish sub‑contractor terms and conditions Managing all required governance associated with opportunities based on their risk and cost levels through the preparation, negotiation and hand‑over phases Ensuring that appropriate client requirements such as pre‑qualifications are highlighted and advised when information is sourced in line with business strategy What we offer Competitive remuneration with a significant ASX‑listed company Structured career paths with the opportunity to work in different areas of the utilities business supported by a robust commercial operating model A suite of health and wellness benefits and initiatives, including EAP and Beyond Blue Retail discounts with major retailers such as Dell, Good Guys, Samsung, Specsavers & ANZ We are a Tier 1 ASX listed company with in‑house capabilities that far exceed traditional contractor environments Excellent work‑life balance, flexibility and WFH availability What we’re looking for Degree qualified or equivalent experience in engineering or business‑related fields Five years leading Pre‑Contracts teams across Australia and/or New Zealand, having worked not only within contractor organisations but also customer and/or consulting firms preferred Proven industry experience working in the energy sector, including power transmission, substation and BESS delivery markets A deep understanding of market participants, regulatory environment and challenges confronting the sectors in which the energy & utilities business operates Highly developed customer service skills and the proven ability to develop, maintain and influence business relationships at all levels with clients, partners and suppliers Commercial and operational acumen through direct project management or commercial management experience in the industry is desirable Proficiency in project management methods and techniques and asset management principles also desirable Substantial experience in engineering principles and construction methodologies About Energy & Utilities Downers Energy & Utilities business unit is an integrated trans‑Tasman team providing services and solutions that connect communities to essential networks and infrastructure.
