QBuild, the commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government, is looking for a qualified Cabinet Maker to join our regional teams. Your role will support QBuild’s mission to strengthen Queensland’s building and construction industry by providing essential services to government-owned assets, including schools, social housing, health facilities and disaster response projects. In addition to on‑site construction, you will mentor apprentices and take a lead role in training the next generation of tradespeople. Responsibilities Work independently and as part of a team, mentoring apprentices and tradespersons. Apply quality control techniques and exercise discretion to produce high‑standard work. Complete required paperwork accurately and efficiently. Demonstrate knowledge of commercial and residential maintenance principles, including relevant legislation, regulations and codes. Fabricate, assemble and install cabinetry safely (cupboards, workstations, presentation frames) using hand‑tools, power tools and joinery machinery. Conduct on‑site measurements, produce material lists from plans and apply single‑pack and two‑pack finishes. Use CAD/CAM systems for routine modifications and input data via Microsoft Outlook and Word. Follow safe working methods, particularly regarding asbestos handling and other high‑risk tasks; identify hazards and manage risks. Take responsibility for personal health and safety, including PPE use, safe manual handling and working in physically demanding environments (bending, twisting, squatting, uneven surfaces). Requirements Eligibility to work in Australia. Current trade certificate/qualification (minimum Certificate III Cabinet Making and Timber Technology). Current Construction Industry White Card. Current, valid Queensland "C" class driver’s licence or equivalent. Working knowledge and compliance with current work health, safety and environmental legislation and codes of practice. Additional Information You may be required to undertake duties at worksites throughout your appointed region and the State. Distant work may require overnight stays of up to a 3‑week period. Safety clothing and PPE will be provided and must be worn. Team leader or foreperson roles may be undertaken as required. Power tools will be provided where required. Use of a private motor vehicle and/or provision of a QBuild vehicle will follow relevant motor vehicle policies; a home‑garaged QBuild vehicle is not guaranteed.
