Position Information

Pleasant Public School has been operating on the traditional lands of the Wonnarua people since 1880. The school has a current student enrolment of 53, and they come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. Our FOEI is 120, and we have no English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) learners. 17 Mount Pleasant students identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students (32%).

Mount Pleasant Public School ensures every student, every teacher and the school improves each year. We completed an External Validation Process in 2023, collating evidence to make an on-balance judgment about school systems and processes, in line with best practices as described in the department's Schools Excellence Framework.

At Mount Pleasant Public School, we ensure each child is receiving high quality, individualised education. Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.

  1. Demonstrated ability to inspire a model of continuous improvement and willingness to work within and across the school community to build explicit teaching and learning practices.
  2. An open approachable and supportive leader with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to genuinely and collaboratively engage with a diverse whole school community to deliver an authentic shared vision.
  3. High level educational leadership demonstrating capacity to manage the dual role of teaching principal.
  4. Understand and be able to demonstrate application of the core principles required in establishing effective relationships between the local Aboriginal communities and this rural school.
General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP2 for 2024.
