Education Assistant - Special Needs Branch : Wongan Hills District High School Division : Independent Public School - Wheatbelt Education Region Salary : Level 2 / 3, $ - $ per hour (EA (Gov) GA 2025) Work Type : Permanent - Part Time, Permanent - Full Time, Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time FTE : Location : Wongan Hills Closing Date : 4 : 30 PM We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. Wongan Hills District High School (DHS) is a medium size district high school situated less than 2 hours drive north-east of Perth in the stunning Wheatbelt. The Role Special Needs Education Assistants, under teacher direction, assist in the education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Suitable applicants will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional and physical skills including the operation of computers and digital technologies. Using excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will ideally collaborate with teachers and other colleagues to create an inclusive education program that accommodates the needs of students. Suitable applicants should ideally display a commitment to building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community. You will ideally have a willingness to provide assistance to teachers of students with a variety of disabilities and / or learning needs. Want to know more? Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and / or physiotherapy programs. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well‑being of students.
