Work Integrated Learning Compliance Officer University of New South Wales – Sydney NSW Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours a week) Duration: Continuing Remuneration: $103,866 base (+ 17% Super, leave loading) Visa: Full Australian working rights for the duration of the contract will be required Location: Kensington Campus, Sydney NSW (Hybrid working opportunities. Current 2-day per week (subject to change) in-person attendance at UNSW HTH) Why this role matters As a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring student readiness for placements across the Faculty of Medicine and Health at UNSW. With placement volumes and compliance requirements rapidly increasing, this role is essential in managing complex placement compliance workflows, supporting documentation submissions, and maintaining strong relationships with diverse placement partners, including NSW Health, private clinics, and community organisations. You will coordinate WIL placement compliance planning, communications, and reporting across multiple programs, respond to student enquiries—including sensitive and complex cases—and maintain accurate records in university systems. Your work will directly support strategic initiatives and the WIL Procedure, and risk and governance frameworks. Reporting to the Academic Programs & WIL Team Lead, you will collaborate with academic and professional staff, external stakeholders, and accreditation bodies to deliver high-quality, timely, and compliant placement experiences. This role is crucial to maintaining operational resilience, enhancing student progression, and supporting the Faculty’s commitment to excellence in education and placement experiences for future medical and healthcare professionals. This role has no direct reports. Some key accountabilities required Support academic and professional staff across the Faculty of Medicine and Health to ensure students meet placement compliance requirements in line with partner, regulatory, and university standards Support continuous improvement through proactively identifying areas for development and process improvement across the team Coordinate and manage compliance planning, communications and reporting across multiple programs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with priorities Respond to student enquiries and provide support for complex cases, including police check declarations and other sensitive compliance matters, as well as delivering online and in person presentations and guidance on compliance requirements to students Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across university systems, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for reporting and audit purposes Contribute to education-related reporting, information production, and stakeholder communications to support placement compliance transparency and engagement Provide support for agreements, special projects, and administrative tasks aligned with the objectives of the WIL team and Faculty Education & Student Experience priorities, as directed by the Academic Programs & WIL Team Lead. Tertiary qualifications with subsequent relevant experience in education administration, preferably within the tertiary education or the healthcare sectors. Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of complex student compliance records with accuracy and efficiency under tight deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and professionally with students, staff, and external partners. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with initiatives and sound judgment in resolving complex compliance issues, leading process improvements, and contributing to project coordination or management High-level organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a large team with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Solid understanding of compliance, regulatory, and reporting requirements relevant to student placements in tertiary education and healthcare settings. Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn and navigate university systems and placement platforms.
