About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Planning Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will lead a team of specialists in shaping the future of our product portfolio by identifying market trends, understanding customer needs, and translating these insights into strategic product plans for BYD & Denza. Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Chief Product Officer, this role requires a deep understanding of the global & Australian automotive industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments. Key Responsibilities Market Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape. Analyse data to derive actionable insights and recommend product strategies. Product Strategy Development: Develop and implement product plans that align with the company’s overall strategy and market demands. Define product positioning, target markets, and competitive advantages. Collaborate with engineering, design, and marketing teams to ensure product plans are feasible and aligned with company goals. Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. Monitor product performance and make necessary adjustments based on market feedback and sales data, such as managing BYD year model facelift and next generation. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless product development and launch processes. Facilitate communication and coordination among different departments to achieve product objectives. Financial Analysis and Budgeting: Develop and manage product budgets and forecasts. Analyse the financial performance of products and recommend cost-saving measures or revenue-enhancing strategies. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with our distributors and dealers to gather feedback and ensure customer satisfaction and great user experiences. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, marketing, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in product planning, product management or a related role within the automotive industry. Strong understanding of Australia’s automotive market trends, technologies and competitive landscape. Experience in product lifecycle management and customer satisfaction metrics. Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g. Excel, PowerBI, JATO). This role requires a proactive and strategic thinker who can stay ahead of market trends and competitor activities to ensure BYDs & Denzas products meet and exceed local market expectations.
