In this specialist role, you’ll lead the development of primary plant standards, specifications, and scopes of work to ensure our data centre customers are supported with the reliable, high-capacity energy solutions they need. As well as front-end engineering, you will have a strong focus on the successful delivery of new zone substation projects to supply data centre customers. This is an exciting role with a high profile, including exposure to senior management and communication with key customers. You will be working within a newly formed team of specialist engineers and project managers, specifically focused on data centre projects. Your Contribution: Collaborative Scoping: Work alongside cross-functional teams to develop tailored scopes for new and upgraded zone substations that enable critical infrastructure for data centre clients. Innovative Specifications: Create forward-thinking technical specifications for high-capacity plant, including transformers and switchgear—including for primary voltages above 66kV. Inclusive Procurement: Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to thoughtfully source the best equipment and services. Quality & Integrity: Support quality assurance through Factory Acceptance Testing and project site reviews, ensuring high standards every step of the way. Supportive Leadership: Provide trusted technical guidance to delivery teams and bring clarity and confidence to complex challenges. Design Alignment: Collaboratively review substation design packages and offer insight at key project milestones. About You: You have an electrical engineering qualification and are eligible for membership with the Institute of Engineers Australia. You bring a deep knowledge of substation primary plant, including transformers and switchgear. You understand the broader asset engineering ecosystem and value strong, respectful relationships with external stakeholders. Here’s what you’ll bring: At least 7 years of experience in the electricity supply. A thoughtful, strategic mindset with strong problem-solving abilities. Clear and considered written communication skills. A strong grasp of risk management principles. A natural ability to foster strong working relationships and build trust across teams.
