The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.
An exciting opportunity is available for a Hospital Assistant to join the General Services team at Nepean Mental Health Unit on a Permanent Full Time basis. In this job, you will provide a safe hygienic environment for patients, staff and their visitors. In addition, our team members perform all tasks comfortably using manual handling techniques.
Hospital assistants clean all parts of the Nepean Mental Health Centre and other sites, including patient, public and office areas. Other tasks may include waste collection and moving of patient equipment, beds, furniture, and linen delivery. This is a shift work position, and may include any shift over 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, unless the contract of employment has other conditions. Apply Today

What you will bring to the role:
- Ability to perform physically demanding cleaning tasks in a hospital environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet the needs of customers and provide exceptional customer service
- Fluency in communication skills both oral and written in the English language
- Ability to work effectively, both within a team and autonomously
- Ability to work all shifts within a 24/7 rotating roster
- Knowledge of an understanding of the Infection Control Policy
- Willingness to protect the health and safety of self and others at work, under the Work Health and Safety Act
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
