How you will create an impact To handle Inland and Open Ocean Marine Lines of Business (LOB) portfolio of claims from coverage enquiry through to quantum analysis, to timely and accurate resolution, ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key internal and external stakeholders. To provide training and be a technical referral point for other team members. May also include cross-border claims handling, including awareness of legal and regulatory systems outside "home" jurisdiction. Key accountabilities will include but not limited to: Managing key claims handling enquiry; coverage determination and quantum analysis for complex claims Ensuring effective vendor and litigation management on Complex claims within a personal allocation, including demonstrable savings DUA technical oversight Delivering technical training to colleagues and external contacts as appropriate Ensuring adherence to best practice procedures for Marine Complex claims, consistent with global best practice Timely, accurate and customer focused claim resolution, minimising indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense Stakeholder engagement including Underwriters, brokers and customers/clients Financial control through consistent reserve and other financial transaction discipline Accurate and consistent policy interpretation Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal Good presentation skills and file knowledge Time management – ability to manage & prioritise workload and diary management Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment and with internal/external stakeholders at all levels Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills on higher value complex claims What you’ll need to succeed Demonstrate an established & proven reputation in Inland Marine Insurance claim management, specifically Contractors Plant & Equipment Experience and knowledge in handling: Cargo First Party, Cargo Third Party, claims and/or appetite to develop these skills. Ability to manage the total cost of Marine & claims indemnity & expense Identify, develop and implement process improvement and efficiency opportunities Proven ability in the interpretation and application of Marine policy wordings Experience with claim negotiations and strong interpersonal flexibility is a necessity Demonstrated capability in the effective management of various stakeholders including, surveyors, lawyers and other experts Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, brokers and clients Demonstrated ability to manage a DUA claims relationship including technical referrals and profitability drivers Ready to make a bigger impact?
