They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to complement and enhance the work of teachers, strengthening student learning and wellbeing outcomes, and helping families understand and manage their children's learning and mental health needs. This collegiate role offers unique challenges and opportunities for professional development and making an impact on the lives of children and young people. The successful candidate will be based at Oxley Park Public School and will have opportunities to work across the lifespan with both primary and high‑school aged students. School counsellors receive regular individual professional supervision with the Senior Psychologist Education, participate in group and peer supervision, and collaborate with school communities, colleagues, and outside agencies. They will also engage in continuing professional development, and the NSW Department of Education will support you to complete or maintain registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Oxley Park Public School has 640 students enrolled P–6 and supports a culturally diverse population, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students (11%) and students from language backgrounds other than English (60%). The school was awarded a Nanga Mai award for outstanding programs supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Additional school support programmes include Speech Therapy, Bounce Back, Smiling Minds, and other support staff to meet the needs of the whole child. Selection Criteria Experience in counselling using evidence‑based interventions with a demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people. Experience in the psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve the learning and wellbeing outcomes of children and young people, including students from diverse backgrounds and needs. Conditions Be a registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Ability and willingness to travel between worksites. Position is under the Teachers award (Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award). Applicants must have an unconditional full approval to teach or be eligible to apply for approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education. Special Notes This position commences on 27 January. Successful applicants will be provided with a Departmental induction programme, ongoing professional learning and supervision.
