il Forno', a popular Italian restaurant in Hampton, VIC, is seeking a motivated and skilled Cook Assistant to join our passionate culinary team. This is a casual position, offering flexible hours and the opportunity to work in a vibrant, bustling kitchen environment. What you’ll be doing Assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients Maintaining a clean and organised work environment, ensuring all kitchen equipment and surfaces are sanitised Restocking and replenishing ingredients and supplies as needed Helping with the plating and presentation of dishes Following all food safety and hygiene protocols Providing excellent customer service and contributing to a positive kitchen culture What we’re looking for Previous experience as a Cook Assistant or in a similar kitchen role, preferably in an Italian or Mediterranean restaurant A minimum of 6-12 months kitchen experience is required for this position Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach A passion for food and a desire to learn and grow within the hospitality industry Valid Australian work visa is required for this position Completion of relevant food safety and hygiene certifications Food safety certifications must be obtained after hire if not already held What we offer At il Forno', we pride ourselves on our vibrant and supportive work environment.
