The Building Cadet is an exciting and challenging role, where you have the opportunity to learn on the job and gain real world experience in the industry. This would be a great opportunity for current construction students keen to grow in high rise construction. Reporting to the Project Managers and with full training provided, this role will give you exposure to: 1) Completion of the job setup process, including coordination and scheduling of site inspections 2) Organise pre-tender reviews of subcontractors, suppliers 3) Release Request For Quotation’s to approved subcontractors 4) Complete basic take-offs 5) Provide Markup of Plan Details and get approved before sending 6) Chase outstanding and secondary quotes, including negotiations on price 7) Assist in sourcing additional suppliers / subcontractors 9) Arrange certifications and other pre-approvals 10) Ordering of supply materials confirming specifications as needed 11) Carry out and assist with specific projects and administration requirements, such as handover files / paperwork 12) Proactively drive company safety, environment and quality policies, practices and procedures 13) Assist Project Managers and Administrators in preparation of tender packages and subcontract documentation, tender evaluations, progress payments, compilation of reports and processing of subcontractor and supplier claims 14) Preparation of Operation and Maintenance Manuals 15) Assist in the preparation of Project Management Plans 16) Document Control and updates on revisions 17) General site duties to keep ahead of the program 18) Reviewing and interpreting fabrication drawings and shop details 19) Preparing project documentation, schedules, and progress reports 20) Liaising with suppliers, fabricators, site supervisors, and clients 21) Attending site meetings and conducting quality and safety checks 22) Supporting procurement and material tracking processes 23) Where do we stop … there is time for you to study as well About You You will have an energetic, people focused and process driven approach with a strong sense of willingness and commitment to learning. To be successful in this role you will also have: Currently studying Bachelor of Built Environment, Engineering, or related discipline and be in their second year in 2026 A passion for the construction industry Strong communication, attention to detail and relationship building skills Excellent time management & organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team High computer literacy, with the ability to learn new systems and operating platforms Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Hammertech.
