Role Summary This unique Counsellor / Group Facilitator role expands your professional practice while deepening your knowledge of the Men Choosing Change Program, with the intention of supporting the new rollout of the Men Sustaining Change Peer Support Program. The Counsellor / Group Facilitators provide therapeutic support within intake and assessment sessions, conduct individual client sessions, and facilitate weekly group work in collaboration with co‑facilitators. The role also involves risk assessment and collaborative practices aimed at creating opportunities for men who identify as using abusive behaviours toward their intimate partners and families. Key Responsibilities Build a sound understanding of the Men Choosing Change Program and the modules for the 16 sessions, including the intentions of practice. Co‑facilitate and contribute to the new rollout of the Men Sustaining Change Program, a peer support group that succeeds the MCC Program. Work within a multidisciplinary team that includes other facilitators, senior workers and advocates who collaborate on safety reviews and associated actions. Use a strengths‑based counselling framework and psychoeducation to support clients in exploring and achieving their goals of building safer relationships. Undertake assessments, intakes, referrals and risk and suitability reviews for clients, including co‑facilitating behaviour‑change group programmes. Adhere to the Practice Principles, Standards and Guidance outlined by Domestic and Family Violence Services and Perpetrator Intervention Services, and comply with all relevant legislation to ensure high‑quality and ethical services. Network with stakeholders, including the criminal justice sector and other agencies, to better support the service, teams and community. Training and Certification During the contract period, UnitingCare will support the applicant to obtain the required 'Emerging' Level 1 Qualified Facilitator level, meeting the ‘Professional Practice Standards’ for working with men who perpetrate domestic and family violence and becoming a registered Counsellor/Facilitator for Behaviour Change Programs in Queensland. Eligibility for membership to the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), PACFA Member Association or Australian Association of Social Workers. Passion for reflective practice, teamwork and the ability to work autonomously. High‑quality organisational and administration skills. Current driver’s licence.
